| Skills Assessment Requirements |
Unless you are exempt in very limited circumstances, you are required to have a positive Skills Assessment to apply for the visas listed above. Skills Assessment authority for Conference and Event Organiser is Vocational Education and Training Assess (VETASSESS). To have a positive skills assessment, you must meet the following criteria: - Three pathways for skills assessment by VETASSESS
- Pathway A – Qualification(s) assessed at least AQF Diploma level with a highly relevant field of study and at least one year of post qualification highly relevant employment at an appropriate skill level in the last five years
- Pathway B – Qualification(s) assessed at least AQF Diploma level with an additional qualification at least AQF Certificate IV in a highly relevant field of study and at least one year of post-qualification highly relevant employment at an appropriate skill level in the last five years
- Pathway C – Qualification(s) assessed at least AQF Diploma level without a highly relevant field of study and at least two years of post-qualification highly relevant employment at an appropriate skill level in the last five years
- Highly relevant major fields of study include Event Management. Bachelor degrees in Hospitality, Marketing, Media, Communications or Public Relations must have sufficient units in Events or Conference Management to be considered highly relevant.
- Applicants nominating for this occupation are encouraged to provide evidence of events they have managed, including details of clients, key stakeholders, event duration and project scope.
- Note: For pre-qualification employment (if all of your employment is before your qualification assessed at the AQF diploma level), three years of highly relevant employment in addition to at least one year of highly relevant employment at an appropriate skill level in the last five years.

organise and coordinate services for conferences, events, functions, banquets and seminars. Tasks - promoting conferences, conventions and trade shows to potential customers
- responding to inquiries concerning services provided and costs for room and equipment hire, catering and related services
- meeting with clients to discuss their needs and outlining package options to meet these needs
- arranging and coordinating services, such as conference facilities, catering, signage, displays, audiovisual equipment, accommodation, transport and social events, for participants
- organising registration of participants
- negotiating the type and costs of services to be provided within budget
- overseeing work by contractors and reporting on variations to work orders
Skill Level Most occupations in this unit group have a level of skill commensurate with the qualifications and experience outlined below. In Australia: AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma (ANZSCO Skill Level 2) In New Zealand: NZ Register Diploma (ANZSCO Skill Level 2) At least three years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications listed above.
