Skills Assessment Requirements |
Unless you are exempt in very limited circumstances, you are required to have a positive Skills Assessment to apply for the visas listed above. Skills Assessment authority for Cotton Grower is Vocational Education and Training Assess (VETASSESS). To have a positive skills assessment, you must meet the following criteria: - Three pathways for skills assessment by VETASSESS
- Pathway A – Qualification(s) assessed at AQF Bachelor degree or higher degree with a highly relevant field of study and at least one year of post-qualification highly relevant employment at an appropriate skill level in the last five years;
- Pathway B – Qualification(s) assessed at AQF Bachelor degree or higher degree with an additional qualification at least Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) Diploma level in a highly relevant field of study and at least two years of post qualification highly relevant employment at an appropriate skill level in the last five years
- Pathway C – Qualification(s) assessed at AQF Bachelor degree or higher degree without a highly relevant field of study and at least three years of post-qualification highly relevant employment at an appropriate skill level in the last five years
- Note: For pre-qualification employment (if all of your employment is before your qualification assessed at the AQF bachelor degree level), five years of highly relevant employment in addition to at least one year of highly relevant employment at an appropriate skill level in the last five years.

Group Description |
Broadacre Crop Growers plan, organise, control, coordinate and perform farming operations to grow broadacre crops such as cereals, oilseeds, pulses, sugar cane, rice, cotton and pasture crops. Tasks - Breeding and raising livestock for the production of honey, meat, milk, skins, eggs and wool
- Overseeing and undertaking breeding, feeding and nutrition programs
- Monitoring and maintaining the health, welfare and condition of livestock, including developing and overseeing strategies to manage biosecurity and other risks
- Providing water, and providing and growing pastures and fodder crops to maintain livestock health and condition
- Organising farming operations and routines such as catching, drenching and milking livestock, sterilising machines, and collecting, grading and packaging produce
- Directing and overseeing general farming activities including the provision and maintenance of infrastructure such as fences, sheds, pens, water supply systems and irrigation infrastructure
- Organising the sale, purchase and transportation of livestock and produce
- Maintaining and evaluating records of farming activities, monitoring market activity and planning production accordingly
- Overseeing data collection and analysis and farm technology systems
- Managing business capital including budgeting, taxation, debt and loan management
- May select, train and supervise staff and contractors
Skill Level Most occupations in this unit group have a level of skill commensurate with a bachelor degree or higher qualification. At least five years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualification.
