International graduates and foreign employees having profiles in Ontario's EOI system were welcomed to take the next step toward permanent residency in Canada.
On October 20, Ontario issued 546 invitations to apply for a provincial nomination.
Candidates with profiles in the Expression of Interest (EOI) pool were invited by the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP).
Candidates may have met the requirements for the Employer Job Offer: Foreign Worker Stream, Masters Graduate Stream, and PhD Graduate Stream.
Candidates who may be qualified for the Foreign Worker Stream under the Economic Mobility Pathways Project received four targeted invitations.
In addition, the OINP welcomed 479 foreign student graduates to apply for the Masters Graduate stream and 63 for the PhD Graduate stream.
Candidates that were invited had to have completed an EOI profile in Ontario's system. Each stream had its own set of criteria for scoring:
A score of at least 35 was required for Masters graduates, while a score of at least 25 was required for PhD graduates.
Since Ontario implemented an EOI method for its Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) that do not use the Express Entry system, this is the second-largest Masters Graduate stream draw.
Master's degree draws tend to be larger and need a higher score, according to previous experience. This might be owing to the large number of eligible applicants that apply for each degree type in the EOI system. According to Statistics Canada, thousands of overseas students graduate with a master's degree in Ontario each year, while the number of PhD graduates is in the hundreds.
