No longer will travellers need to utilise the ArriveCan app or provide proof of immunisation to enter Canada.

The ArriveCan app will no longer be required for all travellers as of October 1, 2022, according to a statement from the Canadian government.

In accordance with the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC), beginning on October 1, 2022, all travellers, regardless of citizenship, won't be required to:

• provide information on public health via the ArriveCAN app or website;

• show vaccination documentation;

• undergo testing prior to or upon arrival;

• implement quarantine or isolation for COVID-19;

• As they arrive in Canada, keep an eye out for any COVID-19 symptoms or indications and report them.

Additionally, masks won't be required on Canadian trains or aeroplanes. According to PHAC, Canada's high vaccination rates, low hospitalisation and mortality rates, as well as the availability and usage of vaccine boosters, are the main reasons why travel restrictions have been lifted. The government continues to strongly advise travellers to use masks and properly check their health.

According to Health Minister Jean-Yves Duclos, "We have reached the stage where we can safely relax the sanitary precautions at the border thanks in large part to Canadians who have rolled up their sleeves to be immunised." However, we anticipate that COVID-19 and other respiratory infections will continue to spread during the chilly months, therefore I urge everyone to maintain current COVID-19 vaccinations, including booster shots, and to practise personal public health measures.

ArriveCan's availability will change

Travellers travelling from overseas will no longer be required to download the ArriveCan app. Travellers won't have to upload their schedule and immunisation documentation to the app to show CBSA officers anymore.

There are no requirements for domestic travel.

In response to the worldwide view on the COVID-19 pandemic, this news was anticipated. As more individuals are immunised and the virus shifts from being a pandemic to being endemic, like the common cold, the number of cases has been declining.

Since last June, Canada has waived the immunisation requirements for both domestic and international travel. Government representatives said at the time that the suspension of those vaccination requirements was a result of the better public health situation, with 90% of Canadians already having received the COVID-19 vaccine.
