The province of British Columbia invited candidates through their Express Entry BC and Skills Immigration Streams

November 26, 2020

The provincial government of British Columbia has issued invitations towards provincial nomination towards permanent residence of Canada to the eligible skilled immigrants on November 25.

A total number of 360 request letters were issued across various immigration categories of British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) which includes Skilled Worker, International Graduates, Entry Level and also under the Semi-Skilled Worker categories.

The minimum point score for this PNP draw differed depending on the BC PNP immigration subcategory and ranged between 75 and 94 point score.

The immigration subcategories that are included in this PNP with their respective requirement of the minimum scores are as follows:

  • Skills Immigration: Skilled Worker: 93 points
  • Skills Immigration: International Graduate: 94 points
  • Skills Immigration Entry-Level and Semi-Skilled: 75 points
  • Express Entry BC: Skilled Worker: 92 points
  • Express Entry BC: International Graduate: 93 points

The provincial government of British Columbia holds draws mainly under two Provincial Nominee Programs (PNP) categories and immigration stream on a weekly basis.

In order to apply for the Express Entry BC immigration categories or for the Skills Immigration categories the candidate must create a profile and therefore register themselves with the BC PNP Skills Immigration Registration System or the SIRS after submitting their completed profile towards the BC PNP online system.

Applicants are assessed and are given a score on the basis of a range of human capital factors that include level of education, employment experience, and proficiency in English language along with others.

If the candidate gets approved, they can use their PNP nomination letter to apply for the permanent residence of Canada with the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) under the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP).

Express Entry applicants who have already applied and have received a provincial nomination towards permanent residence program received additional 600 point scores towards their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of the Express Entry application and are therefore effectively guaranteed to receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for the Canadian PR from the federal Express Entry Draw.

Impact of coronavirus on businesses across British Columbia has led to the exclusion of specific occupations from the BC PNP list.
