The Australian Government has announced an interim allocation of skilled visa nomination places to states and territories while it finalizes the full numbers for the 2025–26 program year.

Interim Allocation for Tasmania

Tasmania has received a total of 165 nomination places:

  • 85 places for the Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190)

  • 80 places for the Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491)

The final allocation for Tasmania will be confirmed in the coming weeks.

Purpose of the Interim Allocation

This temporary allocation is not open to new applicants. Instead, it will only be used to confirm nominations for candidates who were provisionally approved in 2024–25 but missed out due to last year’s quota.

  • Subclass 491: All provisionally approved applicants will now receive their nomination.

  • Subclass 190: Since there are more applicants than available spots, Tasmania will first nominate candidates who are already in Australia, especially those whose visas are near expiry or who hold a Bridging visa.

Applicants who cannot be nominated yet have already received an email. They will get their nomination as soon as the full 2025–26 allocation is released.

Program Opening for 2025–26

The 2025–26 Tasmanian Skilled Migration State Nomination Program has not yet opened for new Registrations of Interest (ROIs). Further details about opening dates, eligibility, and selection policies will be shared soon on the Migration Tasmania website and newsletter.
