Canada has organized an unexpected Express Entry draw, deviating from its regular routine, and extending invitations to 7,000 applicants.

On March 23, Canada conducted a surprise Express Entry selection round, which resulted in the invitation of 7,000 additional candidates from all the Express Entry programs. The selection was based on the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), and candidates with a score of 484 points or higher were eligible to apply.

Issuing 7,000 invitations in an Express Entry draw is a significantly large amount. The draw that took place on March 23 has issued the same number of Invitations to Apply (ITAs) as the previous week's draw on March 15, which is the highest number of ITAs ever issued in an all-program draw.

Kindly be aware that it may take a maximum of 24 hours for an Invitation to Apply (ITA) to become visible in your IRCC account.

There is a rise in the number of PNPs

After the Forum of Ministers Responsible for Immigration held on March 10, Canada announced that the provinces would receive an increase of approximately 44% in their PNP allocations for this year. This allocation refers to the number of nominations that are assigned by IRCC to each province and territory participating in the PNP program annually.

Although the figures were not made public, the provinces have been sharing their multi-year allocations given by IRCC, which was a first-time occurrence this year.

Canada plans to accept 465,000 individuals as new permanent residents in 2023. Out of these, 82,880 individuals are expected to be admitted through the usual Express Entry streams, while the remaining 105,500 individuals will be admitted through all Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) streams, including those linked with Express Entry.

To achieve the target of record-high immigration in 2023, the IRCC will need to keep inviting Express Entry candidates from its pool. This could potentially result in a significant number of invitations for both Express Entry and PNP candidates. As soon as new draw numbers become available, they will be posted on this page.

At what time will the subsequent Express Entry draw occur?

It is not possible to predict the exact date of the next Express Entry draw as there is no public schedule available for it. Nonetheless, historically, the IRCC has conducted Express Entry draws every two weeks on Wednesdays. However, Express Entry draws may also occur on other days of the week, and the time gap between two consecutive draws may vary.
