Since the beginning of the year, B.C. has sent out almost 10,000 invitations to apply for a provincial nomination.
In a regularly scheduled general draw, Candidates from the Skills Immigration (SI) and Express Entry BC (EEBC) streams of the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) got invites.
Invitations were particularly granted to people from the Skilled Worker, International Graduate, Entry Level, and Semi-Skilled sub-categories of the SI and EEBC streams.
Minimum scores for that draw varied from 69 and 91 points. A total of 308 participants were invited.
British Columbia has also been conducting a second round of invites twice a month as part of its PNP programme since February. Because of the large number of candidates from certain labour market sectors who registered with the province's Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS), these draws are being held.
The separate draw was held under the SI and EEBC categories, and it targeted applicants whose occupations fell under NOC 0621 (retail and wholesale trade managers) or NOC 0631 (restaurant and food service managers). The draw generated 101 invites with a total score of 104.
B.C. also handed out invitations to Entrepreneur Immigration (EI) applicants for the first time since August. There were 10 invites given to individuals in the EI-base category and less than 5 to those in the EI-regional pilot category.
While the province continues to accept and finalise applications from entrepreneurs, the intake of applications in the EI-based category has been temporarily suspended. The stream is now being examined, and the province intends to publish specifics about its reopening in early 2022.
