A PGP lottery will be held in Canada once more, with participants chosen from the autumn 2020 interest to sponsor pool.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><em>The Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP) 2022 application intake procedure has just been made public in Canada.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Over the following two weeks, 23,100 interested potential sponsors will get invitations to apply from Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). This amount, according to IRCC, will allow it to fulfil its mandate to accept up to 15,000 full applications for sponsorship under the PGP 2022. Later this week, invites will start to arrive.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In the fall of 2020, IRCC will make a selection from individuals who indicated a desire to sponsor their parents and\/or grandparents. According to IRCC, there are still over 155,000 potential sponsors in the pool. At that time, prospective sponsors had three weeks to express interest by filling out a form on the IRCC website.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">After accepting almost 10,000 applicants for the PGP 2020, IRCC conducted a draw. The same pool was used by IRCC to select over 30,000 applicants for the PGP 2021 last year.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Eligibility for the PGP<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">If the following applies, you may sponsor your parents and grandparents:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u2022 you completed an interest to sponsor form on IRCC\u2019s website between 12 PM ET on October 13, 2020, and 12 PM ET on November 3, 2020<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u2022 you are at least 18 years old<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u2022 you live in Canada<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u2022 you are a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or a person registered in Canada as an Indian under the Canadian Indian Act<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u2022 you have enough money to support the people you want to sponsor (by demonstrating you meet the Minimum Necessary Income)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">One of the main requirements for PGP eligibility is Minimum Necessary Income (MNI). Only after expressing interest in sponsorship via the online form is this evidence of the requisite income required. However, those candidates who are chosen and requested to apply but do not have the required minimum income will have their applications rejected.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) will require Notices of Assessment for each of the three taxation years immediately before the date of the applicant&#8217;s application from sponsors across Canada (in every province and territory except Quebec).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Determine the size of your family, taking into account everyone for whom you will be responsible financially after you become a sponsor, to ensure that you fulfill the minimum income criteria. This includes:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u2022 the interested sponsor;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u2022 their spouse or common-law partner;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u2022 their dependent children;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u2022 their spouse\u2019s or partner\u2019s dependent children;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u2022 any other person the interested sponsor may have sponsored in the past, for whom they\u2019re still financially responsible;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u2022 the parents and grandparents they want to sponsor and their dependents (spouse or partner and dependent children);<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u2022 any dependent children who won\u2019t come to Canada with their parents or grandparents;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u2022 their parent or grandparent\u2019s spouse or partner, even if they won\u2019t come to Canada;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u2022 their parent or grandparents\u2019 separated spouse.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The IRCC is reducing its MNI thresholds for the calendar years 2021 and 2020 by 30% in comparison to what they would ordinarily be due to the loss of income that many people have endured during the coronavirus outbreak. A sponsor&#8217;s income may also be used in the calculation of regular Employment Insurance payments and temporary COVID-19 benefits (such as the Canada Emergency Response Benefit).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Sponsors who live in Quebec<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The immigration ministry of Quebec conducts an income assessment of Canadians who reside in Quebec and desire to sponsor a parent or grandparent in accordance with the provincial income guidelines.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Sponsors that are interested must submit a written promise to the IRCC and the Government of Quebec. This agreement specifies the length of time the sponsor will be liable for the family members they are sponsoring once they are granted permanent residency in Canada.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">For inhabitants of all CanadianParents and Grandparents Program 2022 provinces, excluding Quebec, the obligation for parents and grandparents is 20 years.
