{"id":11466,"date":"2021-11-26T13:09:36","date_gmt":"2021-11-26T13:09:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.immigrationxperts.com\/updates\/?p=11466"},"modified":"2021-11-26T13:09:36","modified_gmt":"2021-11-26T13:09:36","slug":"the-hon-alex-hawke-mp-issued-a-press-release-about-covid-19-exemptions-for-offshore-temporary-graduate-visa-holders","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.immigrationxperts.com\/updates\/the-hon-alex-hawke-mp-issued-a-press-release-about-covid-19-exemptions-for-offshore-temporary-graduate-visa-holders\/","title":{"rendered":"The Hon Alex Hawke MP issued a press release about COVID-19 exemptions for offshore temporary graduate visa holders"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On November 25th, the Hon Alex Hawke MP, Minister for Immigration, Citizenship, Migrant Services, and Multicultural Affairs, issued a press release on COVID-19 exemptions for offshore temporary graduate visa holders.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The following are the highlights of this media release:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Current and former Temporary Graduate (subclass 485) visa holders who have had their visas expire on or after February 1, 2020, can reapply for a new subclass 485 visa with the same duration as their original visa.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Graduates with expired visas will be able to apply for a new visa beginning July 1, 2022.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The stay time for Masters by Coursework graduates on the Temporary Graduate (subclass 485) visa will be permanently increased from two to three years to match the stay period for Masters by Research graduates.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The stay period on the Temporary Graduate (subclass 485) visa Graduate Workstream will be extended from 18 to 24 months as a concession during the COVID-19 pandemic, and application requirements will be simplified by eliminating the requirement for graduates to nominate an occupation from the skills occupation list.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The adjustments to Temporary Graduate visa stay durations will take effect on December 1, 2021, and the skilled occupation list restrictions will be removed on July 1, 2022.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">These modifications will be phased in over the course of the year, beginning on December 1, 2021, and ending on July 1, 2022.
