{"id":10064,"date":"2021-01-28T13:27:11","date_gmt":"2021-01-28T13:27:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.immigrationxperts.com\/updates\/?p=10064"},"modified":"2021-01-28T13:27:11","modified_gmt":"2021-01-28T13:27:11","slug":"government-to-approve-entry-of-1000-international-students-in-new-zealand","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.immigrationxperts.com\/updates\/government-to-approve-entry-of-1000-international-students-in-new-zealand\/","title":{"rendered":"Government to approve entry of 1000 international students in New Zealand"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><em>January 15, 2021<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The government of New Zealand has finally announced that it will welcome 1000 overseas students into the country starting from April as part of their recovery plan which is associated with the international education, as being announced by them recently.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The education minister for the country, Chris Hipkins has conveyed that the students should be in between their degree or postgraduate courses in the universities and colleges across the nation and also would be required to pat for the cost of their time which will be spent in the managed isolation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Education stakeholders have been insisting the government of New Zealand to reopen the international borders for the foreign students, as they are worth more than $5 billion a year when the contribute towards the economy of the country.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Hipkins further added that more preference will be given to those students who are closest to conclude their qualification in New Zealand.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u201cThe students will be allowed to return back to the New Zealand in different phases, starting from a cohort of 300 students that will be able to return to the country from April, and with the remaining pupils will be called back throughout the years as will be allowed by the availability of the managed isolation centers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">As clarified, the returning back of the overseas students will not impact the ability of the New Zealanders to return back to their home and it will be balanced against the need for the skilled workers that will be entered into the country. They will however be subject to the same border regulations and also the quarantine regime as is being followed for all other kinds of arrivals and additional restriction can also be imposed depending on where they would be travelling from.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Hipkins said that the topmost priority of the government has always been and will remain to manage the health, safety and also the well-being of its citizens and residents and it also has a responsibility to carefully balance all its decisions related to reopening the international borders in order to support the economic recovery of the country.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The exception laid down to reopen the international borders for the foreign students has been applied as an association of the recovery plan for the international education. It also emphasizes upon the commitment of the government towards the international education industry, which is certainly important in the long-term economic recovery plan of the nation from the Covid-19.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Hipkins elaborated that the students would be required to book their space to return back using the allocation system and would be needed to pay the standard charges for the managed isolation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">They also would be required to be support them additionally while they will come back to the New Zealand, with the living expenditure that are required for the international students that are to be granted a visa has now been increased to $20,000 from the previous expected amount of $15,000.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The education minister added that the annual economic value of the 1000 degree-level foreign students was estimated to be approximately equivalent to $49 million when calculated on the basis of their wider economic contribution, while also including an estimated $27 million for the tuition fees.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color:
