Infosys has decided to boost the development of its Australian branch. To set a great record in Australia, they have decided to create about 1200 new Australian Tech jobs. This announcement was made on Wednesday. This is a benediction for engineers, especially the ones working in data science, cyber security, machine learning and cloud computing.

The official statement released by Infosys stated that, “The creation of 1,200 IT jobs in Australia by 2020, of which around 40 per cent will be Australian university graduates from a range of fields including computer science and design.”

The announcement was well received by Karen Andrews of Ministry of Industry, Science and Technology. She said in support of this new announcement that, “It’s a great vote of confidence in our economy and the Coalition Government’s commitment to jobs of the future, that a company of Infosys’ global standing would make this kind of investment here.”

Andrew Groth, the Senior Vice President of Infosys’ Australia and New Zealand branch said, “Continuous education is a collective effort and we are proud to work with the government, academia and local communities to help build and shape our next-generation of entrepreneurs and innovators.”

According to him, more than 75 graduates from Australia have already been recruited and there are many more to come. This in part is Infosys’ plan to expand and build new solutions. This will also ensure better growth for the company and make it more competitive in the global economy.

Solving the Immigration Crisis

These latest developments can be seen as a way to tackle the scrutiny regarding immigration by governments of developed countries. The number of work visas issued by countries like US and Australia has been dwindling at a rapid rate. By tapping into the local market, Infosys can hire more permanent employees and reduce their dependence on immigration.
